The Escapist just published a preview of Wolfenstein from Quakecon 2013.
Back in 2008 I joined Starbreeze as a character artist, working on the game Syndicate for EA.
During the project I was asked to take on the role of Lead 3D and Character Artist, which meant I was involved in most of the art that made it into the final game.
In the beginning of 2011 I left Starbreeze to join the MachineGames team, formed by former Starbreeze employees.
It was a genuine pleasure to work with such talented artists as I did at Starbreeze and I’m glad that I still work with many of them now.
Something I’ve found that not many game artists are familiar with is the Render Layers found in Maya since version 7.
They can be extremely handy if you want to render your scene in passes, but they can also be very helpful when baking geometry to textures.
Rico Rodriguez — Suave special agent extraordinare. Also known as the main character of the Just Cause franchise.
I’ve worked and reworked this character so many times, but it’s always been fun working on him. I’ve saved lots of scans and clips over the last year or so, mostly magazine covers and the like. Here are a just a couple of the ones I’ve collected.
This one is probarbly my favorite interpretation of Rico so far (featured in the september issue of play magazine).
